Roy Cox

PORTSMOUTH, VA — Roy Arnold Cox, 74, of Portsmouth, Virginia, died March 1, 2024, at Mary View Medical in Portsmouth.

A graveside Memorial Service was held March 17 at Deep River Baptist Church Cemetery in Coleridge, with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. The Rev. Tim Strider officiated.

Roy was a native of Randolph County and a longtime resident of Portsmouth. He retired from Virginia Power & Light Company and was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Russell and Edna York Cox; sisters, Mary Lou Jones, Carol Woodell; and brother, Russell Cox.

Survivors are sister, Wilhema Poole and husband Bobby of Asheboro; brother, Calvin Cox and wife Darlene of Seagrove; and numerous nieces and nephews.
