RAMSEUR — Ruth Marley Gatlin Barker, 94, of Ramseur, died Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro.
Funeral Services are 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Deep River Baptist Church, Ramseur, with Rev. Tim Strider officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Ruth was a native and lifelong resident of Randolph County. She was a member of Deep River Baptist Church and had retired from Pinehurst Textiles in Asheboro.
Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband, Benjamin Franklin Gatlin; second husband, Harold Barker; son, Arnold Gatlin; grandson, Robbie Gatlin; parents, Elvin and Hattie McNeill Marley; brother, Howard Marley; sister-in-law, Gaynell Marley; sister, Edna Deaton; brother-in-law, Willis Deaton; nephews, Rickey Marley and Darrell Marley.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeannie Scott and companion Eddie of Asheboro; grandchildren, Eric Scott and wife Tara of Asheboro, Heather Creighton and husband Patrick of Olympia, WA; great-grandchildren, Ronnie and Lucas Scott; daughter-in-law, Joan Gatlin of Olympia, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the Deep River Baptist Church fellowship hall from 2-2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, and other times at the home of her daughter. Ms. Barker will lie in repose in the church sanctuary on Wednesday from 2-2:45 p.m.
