RAMSEUR — Susan Millikan Humble was called to her heavenly home on Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, at the age of 81.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, Ramseur, with Rev. Michael Mills officiating.
Burial will be at Whites Chapel Community Church, Liberty.
Susan was born on Feb. 6, 1941, to the late Worth and Frances “Skip” Millikan.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James “Jay” Humble; brother, Donald Millikan; and step-grandson, Jonathan Ferree.
Susan was a member of Whites Chapel Community Church in Liberty. She retired from the Randolph County School System in 2006. Susan served Liberty Elementary for many years in the cafeteria as a Child Nutrition Assistant. She was highly favored for her cornbread, peach cobblers and homemade yeast rolls during her time at the school.
Susan not only shared her talents of cooking and baking with the Liberty School community, but also family and friends. Her delicious meals and desserts will forever be remembered.
Susan also loved the hobby of crochet. She thoroughly enjoyed creating many different crocheted creations, but her favorite task was to create afghans and accessories for any newborns welcomed into the world by close family and friends.
In most recent years, Susan found new fun and joy in spending time with her great granddaughter, Haven. Together, they both enjoyed playing “baby dolls” and cooking the most. Susan was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt and friend.
She is survived by her son, Clinton Humble and wife Pat of Ramseur; granddaughter, Megan Coats and husband Joshua of Ramseur; step-granddaughter, Tina Varner and husband Rodney of Asheboro; sister, Faye Coble and husband Bobby of Climax; seven step-great-grandchildren; six step-great-great grandchildren; several special nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Molly.
The family would like to express special thanks to Alpine Health and Rehabilitation of Asheboro for their extraordinary care of Susan throughout her stay and during her final days.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at Loflin Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ramseur.
