VIRGINIA REA DUNLAP MOODY

ASHEBORO — Virginia Rea Dunlap Moody, 91, of Asheboro passed away on Jan. 9, 2025, at The Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, at Balfour Baptist Church in Asheboro, with Pastor Mark Wilburn officiating. A private family burial will be held at Randolph Memorial Park.

Moody was born on Oct. 30, 1933, in Asheboro, NC, the daughter of the late Claude Dunlap and Virginia "Virgie" Hamlet Dunlap. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her family, she had a second family and that was her church family at Balfour Baptist, where she was a faithful member for more than 60 years.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moody was preceded in death by her husband, Walker Lee Moody; brother, Claude Dunlap; infant sister, Bulah Mae Dunlap; and son, Gary Moody.

She is survived by her sons, Ritchie Moody (Billie), Dean Moody, Jeff Moody, Tim Moody; daughter-in-law, Jane Skeen; sister, Faye Moody; grandchildren, Bryan Moody (Ashley), Mandee Moody, Anne Moody, Mary Brady (Ethan), Karen Moody, Kory Moody (Julia), Jami Moody, Rose Moody, Julia Moody; great-grandchildren, Montgomery Moody, Tess Moody, Mason Moody, Lucas Moody, Emery Brady, Autumn Brady, Hadleigh Hunter.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, at Ridge Funeral Home.
