Meet Jordan Jeffers, volunteer coordinator for Volunteer Center

ASHEBORO — Jordan Jeffers has been volunteer coordinator for about six months. He moved to Asheboro from St. Petersburg, FL, and is “new to the community.” But he’s not new to Piedmont North Carolina. Jeffers is a graduate of the UNC School of the Arts, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He also has a friend from Asheboro.

While in Florida, he ran Asola Repertory Theater in Sarasota. He also was in charge of the costume shop since his background is in costumes and arts management. As a costume designer, he’s acquainted with Paul Tazewell, whose mother lives in Asheboro. Tazewell has won a Tony Award for his costumes in “Hamilton,” was nominated for an Oscar in 2021 for “West Side Story” and is a nominee this year for “Wicked.”

Jeffers said it would be great to be able to work with Tazewell in producing costumes. Meanwhile, he’s hoping to supercharge volunteerism in Randolph County.
