Randleman beat a team that hadn’t been scored on in its first three games, Asheboro picked up an early second win and SWR romped for the second straight week. Here’s a look at last week’s football results.

Tigers remain undefeated

Daylan Atkins and Ty Moton ran for touchdowns while wide receiver Tyshaun Goldston threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Jay Richards as the 4-0 Tigers knocked off previously unbeaten Union Pines 21-7.

Quarterback John Kirkpatrick threw for 184 yards and Atkins had 79 yards rushing on 12 carries.

Goldston made his throw after receiving a lateral from Kirkpatrick to cap off a short drive which started after a muffed punt.

Moton’s 2-yard touchdown run came after Union Pines (3-1) had cut Randleman’s lead to 14-7.

Asheboro wins again

It’s three games into the 2024 season and the Blue Comets have exceeded their victory total from a year ago.

Quincey Lee ran for two touchdowns as the Blue Comets beat Providence Grove to improve to 2-1. Lee also had an interception and fumble recovery on defense.

Connor Britton bore the brunt of the workload on offense with 23 carries for 148 yards. Logan Laughlin had 67 yards passing and was intercepted twice. Ben Luck caught 3 passes for 36 yards.

Cole Trogdon and Luke Hughes both made 13 tackles for the Blue Comets. Lee also forced a fumble.

Micah Garcia kicked a 24-yard field goal and both extra points.

Jackson Lawver had an 8-yard touchdown run for Providence Grove and Carson Jones kicked a 50-yard field goal.

Holden Swift led the Patriots’ defense with two interceptions.

Cougars get second straight

Southwestern Randolph rolled past McMichael 43-21 for the team’s second straight lopsided win.

The Cougars took a 29-21 lead into haltime then pulled away with a touchdown in each of the final two quarters.

The Cougars are now 2-1.

Trinity loses a close one

Trinity fell 20-19 to West Davidson as the Bulldogs (2-2) saw their offense tamed after running up 54 points the previous week.

West Davidson (3-1) kicked two field goals and converted both extra points.

Wheatmore falls to McGuinness

Wheatmore fell 46-12 to Bishop McGuinness. The Warriors are now 0-3.
