Southwestern Randolph and Eastern Randolph dominated in what was a slim, two-game schedule for Randolph County teams. Randleman, Trinity, Wheatmore and Providence Grove were all idle. Here’s a look at what happened.
SOUTHWESTERN RANDOLPH 40, ASHEBORO 2
Quarterback Easton Clapp threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more as the Cougars (4-1) dominated their crosstown rivals. Clapp had 196 yards passing, with scoring tosses to Adam Cole and Marcus Robertson. The Cougar quarterback also finished with 126 yards rushing.
Cole had 78 yards receiving and ran for 41 yards with a pair of touchdowns.
Defensively, Colton Law led with 10 tackles, including 4 for loss. Jose Flores had 8 tackles, including 3 for loss while Caleb Shelton got a couple of sacks.
Michael Brady led Asheboro (1-4) with 97 yards rushing.
EASTERN RANDOLPH 42, WEST STANLY 0
The Wildcats piled up 406 yards total offense in an easy win as they improved to 4-1 for the season.
Ervodd Cassady led a balanced attack with 88 yards and a touchdown rushing. Angel Hernandez ran for 66 yards and a touchdown. Devonte Brooks had two touchdowns rushing and D.J. Thomas had one.
Quarterback Stratton Barwick threw for 156 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown strike to Jake Fesmire, who also recorded a safety on defense.
