Some impressive performances dotted the softball landscape this week. Let’s take a look:
*Carmen Turgeon had three hits, including a double, and 4 RBIs in Wheatmore’s 16-2 rout of Trinity. She also tossed a four-hitter with 14 strikeouts. Samantha Bugg had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Savannah Heiney had a hit and two RBIs. Arielle Turgeon had a triple and RBI. Skylar Pittman had a hit and RBI.
*Macie Crutchfield threw a five-hitter with nine strikeouts as Southwestern Randolph walloped Uwharrie Charter 13-1. Maddie Strider smashed a two-run homer while Alley Lowe drove in three runs. Carleigh Whitson had three hits and an RBI.
Kenzie Hill had two hits for Uwharrie Charter.
*Skylar Pugh threw a no-hitter with nine strikeouts as Eastern Randolph overwhelmed Trinity 17-0. Mackenzie Gee, Quachell Headen and Madison Canoy all had two hits. Bailey Herring had two RBIs.
*Hill was 4-for-4 with a home run, double and three RBIs as Uwharrie Charter routed Wheatmore 14-0. Logan Zephir was 3-for-4 with a triple and 3 RBIs. Emory Johnson and Molly Bulla both had a two-run triple. Bulla pitched four innings, allowing a hit with eight strikeouts.
*Emma Mazzarone pitched a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts in Providence Grove’s 4-0 win over Randleman. Leela Von Der Hey had a double, triple and three RBIs. Kaylie St. John had two hits.
Katie Green had two hits for Randleman.
*Addie Flinchum smashed a solo home run in Eastern Randolph’s 6-1 win over Providence Grove. Ziera Watson and Dori Luther each had a hit and RBI. Flinchum threw a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts.
