Southwestern Randolph appropriately finished off an unbeaten conference season with a dominant shutout in the title game against second-place Providence Grove.
PAC-7 Tournament
FIRST ROUND
*Quachell Headen had two hits and four RBIs in Eastern Randolph’s 17-0 romp over Trinity. Madison Canoy had a single, double and two RBIs. Mackenzie Gee had two hits while Sarah Edwards had a triple and two RBIs. Skylar Pugh struck out 11.
*Maddie Flinchum collected four hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs in Providence Grove’s 11-1 thumping of Wheatmore. Leela Von Der Hey had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs. Kaylee St. John had two doubles. Emma Mazzarone struck out 11 and got a triple.
*Kenzie Hill was 4-for-4 with two RBIs in Uwharrie Charter’s 6-3 win over Randleman. Gracie Smith had a triple and two RBIs. Kynley Brewer had a triple and single. Emory Johnson also had two hits. Logan Zephir got the win and Molly Bulla earned a save.
Mackenzie Roach had two hits and an RBI for Randleman.
SEMIFINALS
*Macie Crutchfield threw a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts in Southwestern Randolph's 3-0 win over Uwharrie Charter. Alley Lowe had two hits, including a triple, and an RBI. Maddie Varner had a triple and single. Ky Perdue had a hit and an RBI.
Bulla allowed one earned run and struck out eight for Uwharrie Charter.
*Mazzarone tossed a five-hitter with four strikeouts and got a pair of hits in Providence Grove’s 3-2 win over Eastern Randolph. Devon Kelly had two hits while Maddie Flinchum had a hit and RBI.
Addie Flinchum had two hits and an RBI for Eastern Randolph. Pugh gave up three runs and struck out eight in 5 1/3 innings. She also had a double.
CHAMPIONSHIP
*Crutchfield pitched a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts in Southwestern Randolph’s 7-0 win over Providence Grove. It was the program’s first conference tournament championship since 2015. Carleigh Whitson had two hits and two RBIs for the Cougars. Caressa King had a triple and an RBI. Madelyn Smith and Varner each had a hit and RBI.
Mazzarone allowed three earned runs and struck out six in the loss. She also had a hit.
