ER's Pugh throws pair of shutouts

Skylar Pugh took center stage this week by tossing a pair of shutouts for Eastern Randolph. Emma Mazzarone was also back at it, with a 16-strikeout no-hitter of her own. 

Here's a recap of last week's highlights:

 

-Pugh tossed a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Eastern Randolph beat Wheatmore 11-0 in five innings. Ayanna Mears led the offense with three hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs. Lanie McDaniel had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs for the Wildcats. Addie Flinchum got a triple and single while scoring four runs. 

 

Pugh threw a shutout with five strikeouts as Eastern Randolph drubbed Asheboro 16-0. Addie Flinchum had a double, triple and three RBIs. Mears had a double, single and three RBIs. Morgan Coward had two hits for Asheboro.

 

-Alyssa Harris tossed five no-hit innings with eight strikeouts in Southwestern Randolph’s 6-0 win over Randleman. Maddie Varner drove in two runs and Maddie Smith had two hits.

 

-Mazzarone fired a no-hitter with 16 strikeouts as Providence Grove downed Uwharrie Charter 6-1. The Virginia Tech signee was also 3-for-4 with two doubles. Gracie Smith also went 3-for-4. Mailey Way was 2-for-3 with a triple.

 

-Kynley Brewer (triple and 2 RBIs), Molly Bulla (homer and 2 RBIs) and Aubrie Kaufman (double and RBI) all had four hits in Uwharrie Charter’s 14-6 win over Randleman. Maddie Burrow had three hits and five RBIs for the Eagles.
