Providence Grove remained unbeaten with its second straight blowout win and Randleman bounced back after suffering a lopsided loss last week. Asheboro and Southwestern Randolph were idle. Here’s a look at what happened.

PROVIDENCE GROVE 51, JORDAN-MATTHEWS 0

The Patriots figured to have their way in this one against the winless Jets and decided it early by racing to a 30-0 lead in the first quarter. It was 44-0 at halftime.

Joe Coltrane and Zane Cheek each scored two touchdowns for the Patriots. Zander Cheek, J.C. Cruz and Jaden Bacon both got a touchdown. Bacon led the Patriots with 13 carries for 75 yards. Zane Cheek’s lone carry was a 70-yard touchdown run. Chase Whitaker and Andrew Canter both threw a touchdown pass.

Zane Cheek, Zander Cheek and Joe Coltrane each returned a punt for a touchdown.

Karson Bowman and Josh Ward both had seven tackles and Lemuel Coltrane intercepted a pass. Jordan-Matthews had minus-17 yards of offense.

RANDLEMAN 47, MONTGOMERY CENTRAL 7

This was reminiscent of Randleman romps from not too long ago and comes on the heels of a 45-21 loss to Central Davidson.

Quarterback Christian Long ran for two touchdowns and threw for another as the Tigers improved to 2-1. Long threw for 163 yards and a touchdown pass to Tyshaun Goldston. He had 48 yards in the ground. Amarion Moton ran 11 times for 52 yards and 2 touchdowns while Micah Thurston had a rushing touchdown. Thurston also blocked a punt and recovered it in the end zone for a touchdown.

On defense, Gregory Price intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble. Cam Norton, Chase Farlow and Goldston each had an interception.

EAST DAVIDSON 42, TRINITY 13

The Bulldogs were unable to stop East Davidson’s run game and dropped to 2-1. Trinity only trailed 14-7 at halftime but the Golden Eagles pulled away in the second half.

Quarterback Dominic Payne threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Chance Grogan and Bo Gibson had a rushing touchdown for the Bulldogs.

LEDFORD 70, WHEATMORE 0

The undefeated Panthers were too much for the Warriors, who fell to 1-2. Ledford was up 57-0 at halftime. The Panthers had 528 total yards.

EASTERN RANDOLPH 35, WALKERTOWN 21

Ervodd Cassady rushed for 116 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Wildcats won their second straight game. Davonte Brooks also had 116 yards rushing. Quarterback Stratton Barwick ran for a touchdown and a two-point conversion.

The defensive highlight was Will Stalker returning an interception 56 yards for a touchdown.
