Here’s a look at highlights from last week’s summer baseball results.

 

Asheboro Zookeepers

- Ryan Kennell was 2-for-4 with an RBI in the Zookeepers’ 5-4 win over the Holly Springs Salamanders. Nic Shutte scattered eight hits with two earned runs and nine strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. Danny Thompson tossed 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, striking out three, to earn a save.

- Kennell was 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the Zookeepers’ 7-6 loss to the Macon Bacon. Nick Capozzi was also 2-for-4. Nick Spaventa, Zach Evans and Chase Heath each had a hit and an RBI.

- Heath was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs as the Zookeepers took a wild 14-13 victory over the Martinsville Mustangs. Yariel Diaz smashed a three-run homer while Hunter Atkins was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Kennell was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and Capozzi was 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Thompson got the win, allowing a run on four hits with three strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings.

- Devin Parks was 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs as the Zookeepers outslugged the Forest City Owls 13-10. Sal Laimo was 4-for-5 with an RBI. Evans was 2-for-4 with an RBI while Davis Germann was 3-for-4 with four runs. Atkins was 1-for-5 with an RBI. Peter Mullen threw three innings of scoreless reliefs, striking out six, to get the win.

- Heath was 3-for-5, including triple and double, with three RBIs in the Zookeepers’ 15-5 rout of Martinsville. Diaz had a hit and three RBIs. Nick O’Brien and Germann both had two hits and two RBIs. Owen Blacklidge had a hit and two RBIs. Nick Spaventa and Laimo both had two hits and an RBI. 

- Heath was 2-for-4, including a solo home run, in the Zookeepers’ 6-1 loss to the High Point-Thomasville Hi-Toms.

 

American Legion Baseball

- Clay Hill and Samuel Asbill each had two hits and an RBI in Randolph County’s 9-3 win over Liberty. Grat Dalton had a two-run single. Austin Lemons had three RBIs with a two-run single and bases-loaded walk. Parker Kines scattered eight hits and allowed two earned runs in five innings. Lemons finished up on the mound, allowing an unearned run in two innings.

Noah Lester had three hits and two RBIs for Liberty. Isaac Yates added two hits.

- Drew Harmon was 4-for-4 with an RBI in Randolph County’s 9-6 loss to St. Mary’s (Md.). Dalton had a double and two RBIs. Hill doubled and scored a pair of runs.

- Dalton and Harmon each had two hits in Randolph County’s 7-2 loss to St. Mary’s. 

- Lester had a hit and an RBI in Liberty’s 16-6 loss to High Point. Cade McCallum doubled and scored a run. 

- Pierce Leonard had two hits and three RBIs as Randolph County beat High Point 7-2. Harmon had two hits, including a double. Jake Riddle had an RBI single. Caden Lasley had a sacrifice fly. Austin Lemons pitched five-plus innings, allowing four hits and two runs with five strikeouts.

- Will Stalker had an RBI double in Liberty’s 7-1 loss to Davidson County.

 

Brooks Brannon update

The former Randleman star was 1-for-3 in the Salem Red Sox’s game with Augusta and 1-for-4 in their game with Fredericksburg.

Brannon was a combined 4-for-8 in two games against Salisbury (Md.). As of June 29, he was batting .301 with 2 home runs and 9 RBIs.
