BOYS BASKETBALL

 

PAC tournament

First round

 

*Dominic Payne scored 30 points in Trinity’s 70-61 win over Providence Grove. Dylan Hodges added 13 points for the Bulldogs and Brandon Campbell had 12.

 

*Tyshaun Goldston poured in 28 points as Randleman beat Uwharrie Charter 66-52. Greg Price had 17 points and Christian Long contributed 14.

 

Ashton Troutman led Uwharrie Charter with a game-high 35 points.

 

*Sean Adkins led three players in double figures with 14 points as Southwestern Randolph downed Wheatmore 57-38. Landon Williamson scored 12 points and Thomas Leal had 11 for the Cougars.

 

Cooper Black led Wheatmore with 12 points and Robert Nyamongo had 9.

 

PAC tournament

Semifinals

 

*Payne scored 30 points while Hodges had 17 and Campbell 13 as Trinity edged Southwestern Randolph 67-66.

 

Nathan Ellis led the Cougars with 21 points. Adkins had 16 and Leal 13.

 

*DaVonte Brooks scored 18 points as top-seeded Eastern Randolph held off Randleman 48-45. Pierce Leonard added 9 points and Julian Brooks 8 for the Wildcats.

 

Price led Randleman with 18 points. 

 

MPC tournament

Semifinals

 

Jerquarius Stanback and Hakeeme Butler each scored 21 points but top-seeded Asheboro was upset 67-61 by Oak Grove. Camden Walker added nine points for the Blue Comets.

 

PAC tournament championship

 

*Timothy Brewer scored 28 points and Brooks had 20 as Eastern Randolph downed Trinity 74-64 for the title. Connor Carter added 12 points for the Wildcats.

 

Payne led Trinithy with 25 points while Dylan Hodges had 19 points. Campbell added 12 points.

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

 

PAC tournament

First round

 

*Brecken Snotherly had another huge game with 38 points and 15 rebounds as Eastern Randolph turned aside Providence Grove 51-33. 

 

*Jordin George scored 14 points as Southwestern Randolph edged Trinity 47-46. Maddie Small added 9 points while Kenzie Martin and Caressa King each had 8.

 

Kennedy Jackson led Trinity with 16 points. Autumn Gentry and Kaelyn Whiteheart each contributed 13 points.

 

*Uwharrie Charter beat Wheatmore 57-39.

 

Kynnedi Routh led Wheatmore with 17 points.

 

MPC tournament

First round

 

*Salem Lee scored 24 points in Asheboro’s 76-68 loss to North Davidson. Sion Murrain added 20 points for the Blue Comets, who ended their season with a 4-21 record. Kimry Comer and Laneane Scherer each had 11 points.

*Brecken Snotherly scored 37 points in Eastern Randolph's 75-49 thumping of Southwestern Randolph. Payton Pardue had 13 points.

 

Small led Southwestern Randolph with 14 points and George had 12.

 

*Jordan Booker scored 17 points to lead three players in double figures in top-seeded Randleman’s 58-40 win over Uwharrie Charter. Audra Petty had 17 points and Gracyn Hall provided 15.

 

PAC tournament championship

 

*Hall scored 21 points as Randleman edged Eastern Randolph 57-55 in an overtime thriller. Booker and York each had 15 points.

 

Snotherly led Eastern Randolph with 27 points. Logann Beaver added 10 points and Whitaker had 9.

 

VOLLEYBALL

 

*Asheboro has named former Eastern Randolph two-sports star Kelly Smith as the school’s volleyball coach.
 

Smith was a basketball and volleyball standout for Eastern Randolph. In her senior season, she averaged 18.3 points, 11.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists. She finished with 1,647 career points and went on to play college basketball. Smith spent one season at West Virginia before transferring to East Carolina. She has coached basketball and volleyball, both at Eastern Randolph and Southern Guilford.
