Asheboro and Randleman weren’t the only teams with big wins Friday night.
Here’s a look at other local teams going home happy.
SW Randolph 40, Wheatmore 6
Brody Sheppard turned in a huge, history-making performance by running 18 times for 245 yards and 5 touchdowns as Southwestern Randolph overwhelmed Wheatmore 40-6. Sheppard also had a two-point conversion run.
The Cougars amassed 380 yards total. Sheppard’s five touchdowns and 32 points are top-five performances in program history.
Providence Grove 47, Jordan-Matthews 8
Jackson Lawver ran for two touchdowns and threw for another as Providence Grove trounced previously unbeaten Jordan-Matthews 47-8. Lawver had 85 yards rushing on 14 carries and ran in a two-point conversion.
His touchdown pass was to Conner Tozer.
Nick Straughn ran 17 times for 106 yards and a touchdown. On defense, Straughn recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown.
Connor Haithcock had three sacks and forced a fumble and the Patriots tacked on two safeties.
Trinity 48, Surry Central 28
Khad’n Fuller ran for three touchdowns and threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Zaire Gill in Trinity’s 48-28 win over Surry Central.
Gill returned a kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown and Fuller had a 57-yard return to set up another score.
