■ The Zoo City 17U baseball team will hold tryouts on Saturday, May 10, at 5 p.m. at McCrary Park. All area players are welcome. Players must be born on or after Jan. 1, 2009.

Baseball
■ Jake Riddle went 4-for-4 with two RBIs and threw a five-hitter with nine strikeouts as Randleman throttled Asheboro 11-0. Ashton Poe, Jackson Hill and John Kirkpatrick all had two hits.
Reid Sudduth had two hits for Asheboro.
■ Carlos Cordero had two hits, including a triple, and three RBIs in Eastern Randolph’s 14-2 romp over Northeast Guilford. Cade McCallum had two hits and two RBIs. Avery Wright had two hits and an RBI. Maddox Dunn and Cooper Smith both contributed a two-run single. Landon Albright pitched four scoreless innings with five strikeouts.
■ Grant Kirk was 3-for-3 with a double, triple and four RBIs in Southwestern Randolph’s 15-5 rout of North Moore. Brady Armfield had a single, double and two RBIs. Elijah Sykes had a single, double and RBI. Matthew Blankenship pitched all five innings, striking out five.
■ McCallum hurled a five-inning perfect game with 12 strikeouts as Eastern Randolph drubbed Jordan-Matthews 15-0. At the plate, McCallum had three hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs. Dunn had a single, double and four RBIs. Bryson Marley had three hits and an RBI. Isaiah Batchelor had two hits and three RBIs. Cordero had a two-run single and Smith singled in a run.
■ Andrew Thomas was 3-for-3 with a home run, two doubles and two RBIs in Providence Grove’s 11-1 romp over Thomasville. Colin Duvall had two doubles and two RBIs. Grant Underwood contributed two hits and two RBIs. Caden Waugh had an RBI double while Conner Haithcock and Bishop Moore had RBI singles. Trevor Kirkman tossed a five-inning three-hitter with eight strikeouts.
■ Lincoln Coble pitched a six-inning one-hitter with 12 strikeouts in Trinity’s 12-2 win over Wheatmore. Mason Carter had a triple, single and RBI. Peyton Williams had two hits and an RBI. Walker Parrish had three hits and Grayson Fauber had an RBI single.
Lukas Usterbowski got Wheatmore’s only hit.
■ Jaxon Mabe doubled in a run while Jake Hunter and Levi Mitchell had RBI singles as Uwharrie Charter edged Northwood 3-2. Keaton Hill allowed three hits and two runs in six innings. Hunter struck out two in the seventh and got a save.
■ Grayson Norman had a two-run single in Asheboro’s 5-3 win over Southern Guilford. Sudduth had an RBI double. Daniel Jaimes went 5 1/3 innings with five strikeouts for the win. Sam Gore pitched 1 2/3 innings with a pair of strikeouts.
■ Armfield and Lucas Conner both had three hits and two RBIs as Southwestern Randolph belted North Moore 15-5. One of Armfield’s hits was a double. Sykes had a double, triple and four RBIs. Logan Weidman had a hit and three RBIs and was the winning pitcher. Carson Coltrane had an RBI double and Oscar Vasquez got an RBI single. Grant Kirk had an RBI single.
■ Nick Soles had two hits and three RBIs in Trinity’s 8-3 win over Southwest Guilford. Brody Little and Williams each had three hits. Cohen Wolfe contributed an RBI single. Williams pitched two scoreless innings and Cameron Hill allowed one run in three innings.
■ Mitchell had two hits, including a double, and an RBI in Uwharrie Charter’s 6-5 loss to Central Davidson. Wilson Boswell singled in a run and Mabe had a double.
■ Randleman overwhelmed High Point Central 19-0 and 28-0 in a doubleheader. Kirkpatrick had two doubles and three RBIs in the first game. Hill had two hits and two RBIs. Kyle Dillow had two hits and an RBI while pitching a three-inning one-hitter with seven strikeouts. In the second game, Titan Burgess had three hits, including a double, and four RBIs. Tate Andrews had three hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs. Brody Pierce had two hits and three RBIs. Kirkpatrick had a single, double and three RBIs. Gavin Vanover had two hits and two RBIs. Ricky Romano had a single, double and two RBIs. Poe pitched two scoreless innings and Romano hurled the third inning.
■ Kirk had three hits, including a home run and double, as Southwestern Randolph beat Providence Grove 11-5. Armfield had a home run and a double. Coltrane had a two-run single and Carson Williams singled in a run. Sykes pitched 5 1/3 innings, striking out 10 and allowing three runs.
Chase Collins had a two-run triple for Providence Grove while Thomas had an RBI single. Duvall had two hits.
■ Soles went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs as Trinity beat Wheatmore 5-0. Walker Parrish drove in a run with a squeeze bunt. Peyton Williams threw a one-hitter over six innings with eight strikeouts. Hill pitched the seventh inning.
■ Shane Immel went 2-for-3 in Asheboro’s 2-1 loss to Southern Guilford. Sudduth had an RBI single and Price Kidd struck out 11 in 6 1/3 innings.
■ Batchelor was 2-for-2 with a single, double and three RBIs in Eastern Randolph’s 5-2 win over Jordan-Matthews. McCallum added a sacrifice fly. Marley hurled a four-hitter over five innings with seven strikeouts and was 2-for-2. Chance Holdaway pitched two scoreless innings and earned a save.
■ Moore was 2-for-3 with a double and five RBIs as Providence Grove thumped Thomasville 12-2. Underwood had two hits and an RBI. Jacob Flinchum had an RBI triple. Will Dabbs added a sacrifice fly. Collins pitched a three-hitter over four innings. Bryson Arrington allowed a run in two innings.
■ Hunter was 2-for-3 with a double in Uwharrie Charter’s 7-2 loss to Northwood. Brody Engle also doubled.
Softball
■ Emory Johnson tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Julia Nelson in Uwharrie Charter’s 14-1 loss to High Point Christian.
■ Katelyn West had a massive game with eight RBIs on a grand slam, two-run double, RBI single and bases-loaded walk in Southwestern Randolph’s 22-3 rout of North Moore. Bristol Marine had two hits and an RBI. Jada Freeland also had two hits. Kami Dunn had a two-run single, Alyssa Harris had a two-run triple and Maylee Strider got an RBI triple.
■ Hailey Ritter and Shelby Williams both had a hit in Eastern Randolph’s 15-5 loss to Jordan-Matthews.
■ Campbell Ziemba pitched a four-inning one-hitter with nine strikeouts and contributed a two-run triple in Providence Grove’s 15-0 win over Wheatmore. Callie Lambert smashed a two-run homer, got an RBI single and passed 100 hits for her career. Lara Wiseman had three hits, including a double. Cailyn York had three hits and two RBIs. Baylee Cain had two hits and an RBI.
Makenna Lawrence had two hits for Wheatmore.
■ Meghan Peters got an in-side-the-park three-run homer in Uwharrie Charter’s 5-4 win over Northwood. Julia Nelson added two hits. Paityn Williams pitched five innings for the win. Mylee Kittleson went two innings and earned a save.
■ Ryleigh Hineline was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs in Southwestern Randolph’s 13-5 win over North Moore. Dunn had three hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs. Nauttica Parrish had two hits and Harris smashed a solo home run. Chloe Eudy had a two-run double. West got the win with three innings of relief, striking out one.
■ Addyson Dees delivered a walk-off single as Randleman beat Central Davidson 5-4. Ella Rogers had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs. Dees also had a double. Kadie Green had two hits. Rogers pitched a complete game with six strikeouts.
■ London Hardin and Adie Beck both had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs in Eastern Randolph’s 15-5 win over Southeast Guilford. Brooklyn Jones had an RBI single and was the winning pitcher.
■ Ziemba pitched a six-inning two-hitter with 10 strikeouts and collected three hits in a 14-3 win over Jordan-Matthews. York went 4-for-4 with an RBI.
Callie Lambert smashed a two-run homer as part of a four RBI night.
■ Adalyn Boles was 3-for-3 with two RBIs in Wheatmore’s 17-4 loss to Chatham Central. Lilah Gower and Lawrence each had an RBI single.
■ Kyndall Snipes smashed a solo home run and Shellee Culler had two hits, including a triple, in Asheboro’s 18-8 loss to Dudley.
■ Lyric Chriscoe and Elsie Prince were both 3-for-3 with five RBIs in Randleman’s 16-1 rout of High Point Central. Chriscoe had a double and triple while Prince tripled. Kadie Green had two hits, including a triple, and an RBI. Natalie Roach had a single, double and RBI. Dees pitched a one-hitter with five strikeouts.
■ Dunn had a two-run double in Southwestern Randolph’s 5-3 loss to Central Davidson. West pitched 5 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts.
■ Cora Little had a triple in Asheboro’s 15-5 loss to Southern Guilford.
■ Hailey Ritter went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in Eastern Randolph’s 7-4 loss to Jordan-Matthews. Shelby Williams was 2-for-4 with a triple and RBI.
■ Nelson smashed a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning but Uwharrie Charter fell 3-2 to Northwood. Kittleson pitched a five-hitter in defeat with five strikeouts.
Girls Soccer
■ Jocelyn McDowell scored four goals in Wheatmore’s 9-0 win over Thomasville. Hallie Myer tallied two goals while Kayla Rosenbaum, Emmie Messner and Alexis Holifield each got one. Abby Stepp, Nora Partin and Holifield had assists. Kinsley Davis made two saves.
■ Jaira Arellano and Penny Smith both scored three goals in Asheboro’s 8-1 win over Southern Guilford. Gigi Flores and Alexis Bautista each had one goal. Sofia Valencia and Bautista each had two assists while Emily Joachin, Anson Frazier and Angelica Hernandez each had one. Crystal Castaneda made one save.
■ Tatum Wagner, McDowell, Myer and Messner scored the goals in Wheatmore’s 4-1 win over East Davidson. Davis made four saves.
■ Castaneda made 17 saves in Asheboro’s 5-0 loss to Northern Guilford.
Boys Volleyball
■ William Hernandez Miranda posted a double-double of 16 kills and 17 digs as Asheboro beat Glenn 3-1 (26-24, 25-15, 22-25, 25-21). Chase Lewis had 11 kills and 6 blocks. Keegan Puchrik had 9 kills while Jewell Barrett-Riggins had 7 kills and 4 blocks. Thomas Vasquez Sanchez had 21 digs and 6 aces. Ryan Vasquez had 35 assists and 3 aces.
■ Lewis led the way with 7 kills and 2 blocks in Asheboro’s 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-11) sweep of Jordan-Matthews. Miranda had 4 kills and 3 aces. Jonathan Guttierrez Alonso had 6 aces and Barrett-Riggins had 5 blocks. Thomas Vasquez Santos had 9 kills while Ryan Vasquez Santos had 17 assists and 7 digs.
Boys Golf
■ William Tucker was Asheboro’s low scorer with a 40 in a three-team TAAC match at Asheboro Municipal. Charlie Knott and Brayden Davis both shot 41.
■ Landon Cook had the low score for Randleman with a 38 and was second overall in a Piedmont Athletic Conference match at Holly Ridge Golf Links. Kaden Beasley shot 44.
■ Wheatmore’s Max Antignano was second overall with a 40 and the Warriors’ Avery Ivey was third at 41 in a Central Carolina Conference match at Colonial Country Club. West Davidson edged the Warriors by one stroke and Providence Grove was three shots back in third. Tyler Brown led Providence Grove with a 42 and Alex Turner shot 43.
■ Tyler Gee shot an even-par 36, leading Eastern Randolph (158) to victory over Chatham Central (172) and Central Carolina Academy (187) at Brookwood Golf Course. Emmitt Frye shot a 37 and Justin Brown had a 40.
■ Southwestern Randolph’s Caleb Abernethy was fourth overall with a 40 and teammate Dylan Sheffer shot 42 in a Four Rivers Conference match at Siler City Country Club. The Cougars’ Levi Dalke shot 44. The Cougars tied with Uwharrie Charter for third. Andrew Stover led UCA with a 40 and Coen Branson shot 42. Evan Morin shot 44.
Boys Tennis
■ Braydon Tyl won a singles match and teamed with Troy Adkins for a doubles victory in Southwestern Randolph’s 7-2 loss to North Moore.
■ Silas Jessup, Avery Plummer, Matthew Davis and Paul Ervin won in singles as Wheatmore edged Ledford 5-4. The doubles team of Jessup/Ervin won their contest.
Boys Track & Field
■ Asheboro finished third in a three-team TAAC meet with Northeast Guilford and Eastern Guilford at Eastern Guilford.
Winning for the Blue Comets were Michael Mark (300-meter hurdles) and Jacob Leveille (3200 meters).
■ Eastern Randolph finished third in an eight-team meet at Northwood.
Winning for the Wildcats were Caden Revelle (high jump) and Michael Allred (discus).
■ Winning for Trinity in a meet with West Davidson were Kiefer Lindsay (100-meter dash) and Corbin Heugly (110-meter hurdles).
Girls Track & Field
■ Asheboro finished second in a three-team TAAC meet with Northeast Guilford and Eastern Guilford at Eastern Guilford.
Winning for the Blue Comets were Nyla Price (100-meter hurdles), Jalaya Showers (100-meter dash) and Trynitee Brady (shot put, discus).
