Some highlights from last week’s local action.
■ Avery Ivey scored 20 points and had 4 assists in Wheatmore’s 57-43 loss to Jordan-Matthews. Collin Dodd added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
■ Nirey White scored 21 points as Asheboro beat Eastern Randolph 74-37. Zak Blackwell had 11 points and Ryan Headen had 10.
Isaiah Batchelor led ER with 9 points.
■ Trey Burnett scored 13 points and got 6 rebounds in Randleman’s 58-45 loss to High Point Central. Jamari Rice had 8 points.
■ Trivett Kennedy and Levi Dalke each scored 13 points as Southwestern Randolph downed Trinity 60-35. Colton McKee had 10 points and Kenan Sugg added 9.
■ Will Dabbs and Andrew Thomas both scored 24 points as Providence Grove outlasted Southern Guilford 83-80. Thomas also had 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Gabe McKoy scored 15 points and Cam Jones had 9.
■ Avery Ivey led three Wheatmore players in double figures with 17 points as the Warriors held off Forbush 56-53. Jordan Starkey had 14 points and Truman Auman added 12.
■ Connor Cassidy scored 11 points in Randleman’s 39-25 win over Asheboro. Nazir Staton had 6 points.
Johnson led Asheboro with 6 points.
■ McKoy scored 23 points as Providence Grove edged Southwestern Randolph 60-59. Dabbs had 17 points.
Sugg led Southwestern Randolph with 20 points while Kennedy had 12 and McKee 9.
■ Tyler Gee put together a huge night with 32 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals but ER fell 66-60 to Chatham Central. A.J. McDonald scored 11 points, Emmitt Frye had 8 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists, and Hoyt Sparrow got 10 rebounds.
■ Lainey Thomas scored 14 points as Uwharrie Charter beat Cedar Ridge 58-39. Nevaeh Staples added 10 points and Kayla Brown had 9.
■ Bella Byman scored 20 points and got 5 steals in Randleman’s 60-28 rout of High Point Central. Aislyn Laughlin had 11 points. Lanie Hall contributed 10 points and 5 rebounds. Jaquline McDaniel had 8 points and 11 assists.
■ Laneane Scherer scored 16 points and Maliyah Brady added 15 as Asheboro beat Eastern Randolph 51-16. Ady Schere had 8 points.
Callie Craven led Eastern Randolph with 9 points.
■ Jordin George scored 19 points and got 5 rebounds as Southwestern Randolph beat Trinity 68-28. Stella Brown contributed 12 points while Maddie Strider had 9 points and 9 rebounds. Nauttica Parrish also scored 9 points.
Madison Hill led Trinity with 10 points.
■ Raegan Beaver scored 16 points and got 5 rebounds in Eastern Randolph’s 35-28 win over Chatham Central.
■ McDaniel scored 26 points and Byman had 9 in Randleman’s 44-37 win over Asheboro.
Brady led Asheboro with 11 points.
■ George poured in 29 points as Southwestern Randolph beat Providence Grove 62-49. Strider had 12 points and Brown added 9.
Laurel Bernhardt led Providence Grove with 23 points and Adalyn Whitaker had 14.
■ Thomas scored 25 points as Uwharrie Charter rolled to a 57-36 win over North Stanly.
■ Uwharrie Charter swept to victory in the Crusader Duals at Cardinal Gibbons, defeating Knightdale (84-0), East Wake (78-6), Harnett Central (75-6), Cardinal Gibbons (50-21) and Topsail (50-21).
Ayven Virasone Chitavong, Paxton Kearns, Huntley Adcock, Brennan Worrell, Lorenzo Alston and Michael Shropshire were all 5-0. Travis Nobles and Dakken Rodrigues were 4-0. Levi Lytton was 1-0. Andrew White, Caleb Saldana and Ric Riccardella were 4-1. Rylan Alvarez and Jesse Bowles were 3-1. Maddox Goble was 3-2.
■ Wheatmore was fifth out of 16 teams in the Bobby Abernathy Invitational at Piedmont.
Dylan Harris (4-0) and Dominic Hittepole (3-0) took first place in their weight classes. Brodie Bates (2-1) was second. Spencer Moore (2-2) and Landon Watkins (1-2) were fourth. Ben Dudley (3-2) was sixth. Maddox Russo went 2-2. Caden Gillespie, Chris Scott, Landon Stinnett and Andrew Fayne were all 1-2.
■ Eastern Randolph went 4-1 in the Coggins Duals at Southwest Guilford, defeating Ben L. Smith (48-30), High Point Central (54-23), Lake Norman (40-27) and Atkins (42-41) while falling to Cedar Ridge (45-35).
David Lambright, Trever Crabtree and Maddox Carson were 5-0. Hayden Payne and Jamie Crabtree were 4-1. Joshua Watson and Trevor Young were 3-2. Jacob Chavis was 1-1. Ethan Thomas and Eli Kidd were 2-3. James Combs 1-2. Jaylin Talley was 1-3. Jencarios Flores was 1-4.
■ Providence Grove was fifth in the Nick Sgroi Invitational at Bishop McGuinness.
Jeremiah Payne (3-0) took first place. Skyler Henderson (2-1) and Malachi Combo (2-1) were second. Aiden Poplin (3-1) and Charles Villaggio (3-1) were third. Caden Mercado (2-2) was fourth. Matthew Signor, Connor Pritchard and Tucker Coble were 2-2. Isaias Machua, Wyatt Signor and Ryan Bullard were 1-2.
■ Southwestern Randolph swept a tri-match with host Jordan-Matthews (55-24) and Central Carolina Academy (60-22).
Ryder Degraff, Jamir Jaimes, Ryan Owens, Leland Davis, Tyler Taylor, Rafael Flores and Kayden Plummer were 2-0. Dante Lattanzi and Nathan Garner were 1-0. Tony Bustos, Dallas Rambo and Carter Horsefield were 1-1.
■ Providence Grove beat Cummings 44-24.
Payne, Poplin, Henderson, Mercado, Signor, Combo, Villaggio and Bullard won for the Patriots.
■ Uwharrie Charter dominated Eastern Randolph 64-9.
Chitavong, White, Adcock, Saldana, Worrell, Riccardella, Nobles, Rodrigues, Alston, Alvarez, Bowles and Shropshire won for Uwharrie Charter.
Armani Tapia-Sosa and David Lambright won for Eastern Randolph.
■ Asheboro beat Northern Guiford 69-5 and fell 41-38 to Southeast Guilford in a tri-match.
Esteban Santos, Dylan Espinoza, Oscar Zelaya, Jeffrey Harper, Owen Chidester, and Noah Fenton were 2-0 for the Blue Comets. Omar Basyouny, Braiden Morales, Kaylem Butler, Jose Martinez, Trent King, Quanta McRae and Jonah Lester were 1-1.
■ Asheboro was eighth out of 15 teams in the Queen of the Mat Invitational at West Davidson.
Brianna Munoz (2-1) and Grace Redding (2-1) took second place. Angie Lopez was 1-2.
■ Asheboro edged Northern Guilford 25-24.
Munoz, Ganelli Trejo, Isla Aguirra and Redding won for the Blue Comets.
Indoor Boys Track
■ Asheboro hosted the Blue Comet Classic.
Winning events for the Blue Comets were Michael Mark (55 meters, 55-meter hurdles), Aaron Tyson (long jump, pole vault) and Boone Hinesley (shot put).
Winning events for Wheatmore were Kase Wilson (500 meters), Landon Weeks (1,000 meters), Tyler McCormick (1,600 meters) and the 4x800 relay.
■ Asheboro hosted the Blue Comet Classic.
Winning events for the Blue Comets were Jalaya Showers (55 meters), Janey Albright (500 meters), Waverly Adams (1,000 meters), Cadence Waters (55-meter hurdles), Lia George (high jump), Sarah Reeder (high jump) and Trynitee Bailey (shot put).
Winning events for Wheatmore were Brooklyn Hittepole (300 meters), Lydia Madison (3,200 meters) and the 4x800 relay.
Winning an event for Randleman was Reagan Henley (1,600 meters).
