Dennis Garcia

Record: 116-44

Last week: 12-8

“Well, look at that. A new neighbor. Welcome to this side of the page. The weather is a little more sunny, the sky is a little more blue, the grass is a little more green and the restaurants are really good..”

ASHEBORO AT LEDFORD — The Blue Comets probably need at least one win to make the playoffs. They are 27th in the West Region RPI this week. Let’s get that win Friday night. Asheboro, 24-21.

PROVIDENCE GROVE AT SW RANDOLPH — This is a tough one to call. Both these teams give it their all every time they take the field. I really enjoy watching both these teams play. SW Randolph, 27-20.

TRINITY AT RANDLEMAN — Randleman tunes up for its PAC championship battle with Eastern Randolph with an easy win. A lot of points early and then rest. Randleman, 47-6.

NORTH CAROLINA AT VIRGINIA — We’re going to hear more “Fire Mack Brown” chants after this one. But isn’t it the job of a coaching staff to put players in the best possible position for success? They can’t play for them. Virginia, 37-20.

SMU AT DUKE — SMU fighting for an ACC championship? What has the college football world become? SMU 31-24.

PANTHERS AT BRONCOS — I really am starting to believe it doesn’t matter if it’s home, away, versus any NFL team or a very good college team. Don’t think I can ever put the Panthers down for a win. Broncos, 37-14.

“Last week was restful with no games for ASU or the Dallas Cowboys. Maybe that will give me my second wind as we head down the picking stretch. So, gut, what say you? Can I trust you going forward?"

ASHEBORO AT LEDFORD — The question at this point for the Blue Comets is who can they outscore? Ledford? Maybe? ... ASHEBORO, 35-34.

PROVIDENCE GROVE AT SW RANDOLPH — The battle for third place in the top-heavy PAC. SWR has the edge, but PGHS is scrappy. SWR, 31-26.

TRINITY AT RANDLEMAN — Speaking of top-heavy. Randleman and ER are the twin-headed PAC dominators who will face off next week. Meanwhile, I just keep picking the wrong Trinity outcome game after game. RHS, 35-17.

NORTH CAROLINA AT VIRGINIA — UNC is the new Dallas Cowboys of college football, showing the same ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in a new way every time. And yet, I’m an idiot. UNC, 31-30.

SMU AT DUKE — Welcome to the ACC, Mustangs. You won’t want this game in basketball. In football? Depends if Duke decides to finally play in the first half. SMU, 29-24.

PANTHERS AT BRONCOS — I expect a Panthers upset somewhere. Maybe here, but probably when they play the Cowboys in December. Broncos, 26-19.

“You know, one of these days, I think I’ll know what I’m doing. But what can you say? Okay, Okay, you didn’t have to say that. We’ll give it another shot and hopefully the “upset” picks don’t lose their starting QB or half their defense and maybe I can close on Dennis. ”

ASHEBORO AT LEDFORD — The Blue Comets came through the one toss-up game and showed me not to pick against the Comets or you’re gonna get burned. AHS, 27-13.

PROVIDENCE GROVE AT SW RANDOLPH — This is one of those games that sets up the rest of the season. Gotta lean with the home team here for the advantage. SWR, 24-21.

TRINITY AT RANDLEMAN — The Tiger train is on an express line to the PAC showdown coming soon. Randleman, 31-20.

NORTH CAROLINA AT VIRGINIA — Who knew? Who thought UNC’d fall so hard? Who knew Lite beer tastes great AND was less filling? Who shot JR? Who’s tired of this? Who’d I pick? The Hoos, 24-20.

SMU AT DUKE — The Blue Devils are riding high. I think they could ride a little faster climbing on some Mustangs — and I’m not a Ford fan here. Duke, 30-17.

PANTHERS AT BRONCOS — Still not leaning that way. Still watching, Still groaning before we’re even at halftime. ... we should get hazard pay watching this stuff! Denver, 35-28.

“I’m finally getting back on track after, what, Week 8 of the high school and college seasons. *sigh* Better late than never, I guess.”

ASHEBORO AT LEDFORD — Way to get that Homecoming win last week, Blue Comets. Panthers might try a late scoring surge in this one, but I’m taking AHS. AHS, 28-27.

PROVIDENCE GROVE AT SW RANDOLPH — Both squads faced unbeatens last week and took losses. I’m taking the Cougars on their home turf. SWR, 24-14.

TRINITY AT RANDLEMAN — Tough loss for the Bulldogs against Wheatmore last week. It gets even tougher this week against unbeaten RHS in Tiger Stadium. RHS, 31-7.

NORTH CAROLINA AT VIRGINIA — Tar Heels are 0-and for October. That’s not going to change on the road. UVa, 27-13.

SMU AT DUKE — Gotta take the home team in this one, right? Maybe? I guess? Duke, 17-14.

PANTHERS AT BRONCOS — “I don’t know how you can pick the Panthers for anything.” — Husband Todd Dulaney. Broncos, 34-17.
