VOLLEYBALL

 

*Karrington Batten had 14 kills and 4 blocks in Trinity’s 27-25, 25-17, 25-17 win over Asheboro. Sarabeth Johnson had 12 kills and 6 digs for the Bulldogs. Faith Powell had 8 aces and 11 digs. Madison Burgiss had 28 assists and 3 kills. Kaitlyn McCoy had 7 kills and 5 digs.

 

Piper Davidson had 6 kills, 7 digs and an ace for Asheboro. 

 

*Kenzie Hill had 6 aces, 3 kills and 2 digs in Uwharrie Charter’s 25-17, 25-16, 25-18 win over Ledford. Chloe Painter had 6 kills, 4 blocks, 3 digs and an ace for the Eagles. Dacia Lowery had 5 kills and 2 blocks.

 

*Emma Mazzarone pounded 10 kills while Dyyanna Wade had 8 in Providence Grove’s 25-20, 25-11, 25-9 win over Jordan-Matthews. Riley Mazzarone and Gracey Menscer both had 16 assists for the Patriots. Mailey Way had 18 digs.

 

*Haley Pease had 15 kills and 9 digs in Wheatmore’s 25-14, 25-22, 23-25, 19-25, 15-12 loss to Southeast Guilford.

 

*Johnson had 15 kills in Trinity’s 25-11, 25-22, 25-14 win over Southern Guilford. McCoy and Batten each had 10 kills while  Greene contributed 20 assists, 2 aces and 3 digs. Burgiss had 31 assists.

 

*Lowery had 10 kills and 3 blocks in Uwharrie Charter’s 25-20, 24-26, 27-25, 25-16 win over Richmond. Lizah Moore had 6 blocks and 4 kills. Kayden Faglier had 5 blocks, 3 kills and a block.

 

*Emma Mazzarone had 22 kills and 9 digs in Providence Grove’s 25-19, 25-20, 19-25, 25-21 loss to Ledford. Paige Needham had 11 kills and 2 blocks for the Patriots. Wade contributed 6 blocks and 5 kills. Menscer had 28 assists and 14 digs. Riley Mazzarone had 12 assists. Way had 14 digs and 3 aces.

 

*Lucy Lockwood had 11 kills and 2 blocks in Wheatmore’s 25-20, 25-19, 25-22 win over Asheboro. Pease had 10 kills, 7 digs and 3 aces for the Warriors. Lanie McMahan had 11 assists, 3 digs and 3 aces.

 

Long had 11 kills, 3 blocks and 3 aces for Asheboro. Lia George had 7 digs and 5 kills.

 

*Burgiss had 21 assists while McCoy had 12 kills and 9 digs in Trinity’s 25-13, 25-10, 25-19 win over High Point Central. Johnson contributed 8 aces and 6 kills. Batten got seven kills. 

 

*Riley Key pounded 16 kills in Southwestern Randolph’s 25-21, 25-15, 25-19 sweep of Asheboro. Madeline Smith and Gracie Hodgin each had nine kills.

 

Sion Murrain and Long each had four kills for the Blue Comets.

 

*McMahan had 17 assists and 8 digs as Wheatmore overcame Central Davidson 19-25, 25-20, 25-13, 18-25, 15-12. Haley Greene had 19 assists, 6 digs and 3 aces for the Warriors. Taylor Richardson amassed 15 kills and 8 digs.

 

*Emma Mazzarone had 19 kills and Riley Mazzarone collected 39 assists in Providence Grove’s 25-12, 26-24, 25-19 win over East Davidson. Allie Frazier had 14 digs and 10 kills. Way had 15 digs.

 

SOCCER

 

*Cristian Ortiz scored a hat trick in Asheboro’s 4-0 win over reigning 3-A state champion Western Alamance. 

 

*Collin Burgess and Riley Queen each scored two goals in Wheatmore’s 7-1 thumping of Lexington.

 

*Diego Torres scored two goals in Trinity’s 5-0 win over Thomasville.

 

GOLF

 

*Asheboro’s Salem Lee turned in another outstanding effort by shooting a 1-under-par 35 in the Blue Comets’ match with Rockingham County. That earned her medalist honors.

 

BASEBALL

 

*Former Randleman star Brooks Brannon hit .462 in his first five games with the Rookie League affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. Brannon was selected in the ninth round.

 

*Former Asheboro and Post 45 star Tanner Marsh committed to Liberty University.
