“Can’t we just end these predictions this week so I can enjoy football again? It’s getting really hard splitting my attention between football and baseball in October. Haven’t had to do that since 2014. Let’s go Tigers!”

OAK GROVE AT ASHEBORO — The Blue Comets get another opportunity for a signature win this season after heartbreaking setbacks to Randleman and Southwestern Randolph. The defense, which has given up 86 points in the past two games, has to be fixed. Oak Grove, 31-28.

EASTERN RANDOLPH AT SW RANDOLPH — The Cougars are riding high after a big win last week. A tough PAC opener as ER has been the top program in the county for a while. ER, 35-20.

WAKE FOREST AT NC STATE — What do you do? Put your thumb and first finger or second finger together and hoot and holler? Not sure, but I am sure about the winner of this game. NC State, 41-21.

PITTSBURGH AT NORTH CAROLINA — The Tar Heels need a victory in the worst way. It won’t come easy against an unbeaten Pitt team, but somehow it gets done, UNC, 31-27.

DUKE AT GEORGIA TECH — The Blue Devils rallied for a big win over their rivals last week in a 21-20 win over UNC. Georgia Tech is just better. GT, 36-21.

PANTHERS AT BEARS — The Panthers looked like a different team with Andy Dalton in their first win of the year. Not sure what they did last Sunday (these picks are due before the game even started), but I’m guessing not as good as the week before. Bears, 26-21.

“Up and down, up and down. I’m bouncing from front to back so much I’m seasick. Anybody got some Dramamine? Well, at least I’m still better than — wait, where am I? First, second, or Charlotte? My eyes are crossed. ”

OAK GROVE AT ASHEBORO — Start of the Mid-Piedmont Conference season and it’s going to be the measuring stick for the Blue Comets and their hopes. OG is rolling like an OG. Oak Grove, 24-14.

EASTERN RANDOLPH AT SW RANDOLPH — Up and down start for the Cougars. But looking at ER, the Wildcats are ready for the PAC slate. ER, 41-20.

WAKE FOREST AT NC STATE — They had a really hard time with the Catamounts and they’re still struggling. Not sure how about Wake coming out of the break. I still say they are the better squad, Wake Forest 28-24.

PITTSBURGH AT NORTH CAROLINA — UNC is in turmoil with their situation. Pitt took my Cats’ OC, top RB and WR. Their roll thru 2024 rolls right on through Blue Heaven. Pitt 30-20.

DUKE AT GEORGIA TECH — Which team is which? Is GeorgiaTech as good as its early wins? Is Duke worse than their record? Is Bojangles’ better than KFC? Is Dunkin’ better than Starbucks? Do I even know what I’m talking about? All very debatable. Georgia Tech, 21-20.

PANTHERS AT BEARS — Da Bears, Dal-ton, Don’t know, asking Megan. Hey, do your Bears really suck worse than the Panthers? Might be the only time I pick Carolina this year (and just the jinx to pop that hope bubble). Panthers, 28-17.

“They say cream rises to the top. It’s taken a while, but I’m starting to froth at the mouth. From now on, I’m going to refer to myself in the third person as ‘Milkman.’ Now the question is will Milkman turn out to be whipped cream or sour cream? Shaving cream? Ice cream? ...”

OAK GROVE AT ASHEBORO — I do see the Blue Comets winning some conference games this year, but a stout Oak Grove may not be one of those. Oak Grove, 28-21.

EASTERN RANDOLPH AT SW RANDOLPH — SWR has shown it can score. Can it stop a bruising Wildcat offense from scoring is the question. ER, 35-22.

WAKE FOREST AT NC STATE — Wake had no defensive answers against a Sun Belt team last week. State’s new QB played in the Sun Belt for four years. NC State, 37-23.

PITTSBURGH AT NORTH CAROLINA — Pitt’s going to lose sometime, Carolina’s going to win sometime. If both happen this week, blame it one me. Pitt, 37-30.

DUKE AT GEORGIA TECH — I’m not sold on Duke enough yet to overcome a Tech team that is vulnerable, but stout at home. Georgia Tech, 34-26.

PANTHERS AT BEARS — This is a winnable Panthers game, but I’m going with that Bears defense at home. Bears, 17-13.

“Think we gave the Cougars some bulletin board material last week? And why on earth did I pick UNC to win? *smacks forehead*

OAK GROVE AT ASHEBORO — Looks like this one will come down to defense. Oak Grove, 31-24.

EASTERN RANDOLPH AT SW RANDOLPH — I’m going to do this again, Cougars. Feel free to prove me wrong. ER, 28-24.

WAKE FOREST AT NC STATE — Demon Deacons are looking less demon-ish of late. And the Wolfpack did what the Irish couldn’t do. NC State, 34-14.

PITTSBURGH AT NORTH CAROLINA — Not going to make that mistake again. Pitt, 42-14.

DUKE AT GEORGIA TECH — Why not? Blue Devils, 31-17.

PANTHERS AT BEARS — I have burnt orange and navy blue in my veins. This one’s for you, Da. Bears, 27-21.
