Randleman and Eastern Randolph won again. Not coincidentally, they are tied atop the PAC-7 standings. Here’s a look at what happened.

RANDLEMAN 30, PROVIDENCE GROVE 14

This might qualify as a minor surprise and the Tigers impressed.

Amarion Moton carried 24 times for 156 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Tigers improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference. Randleman won four games in 2021.

Quarterback Christian Long was 8 of 14 for 118 yards and a touchdown while also running for 51 yards on 12 carries. Tyshaun Goldston caught most of the passes — 6 for 105 yards and a touchdown.

Christian McLeod kicked a 28-yard field goal and Greg Price led the defense with a 44-yard interception return for a touchdown. The Patriots were limited to 23 yards rushing.

Providence Grove quarterback Andrew Canter threw for 131 yards and James Ellis caught a touchdown pass. Chase Whitaker made 10 tackles and caused 2 fumbles.

The Patriots fell to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

EASTERN RANDOLPH 55, TRINITY 13

Stratton Barwick threw for 149 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Wildcats cruised. Jake Fesmire, DJ Thomas and AJ Rendell each caught a touchdown pass. Ervodd Cassady ran for 70 yards and touchdown. Angel Hernandez and Lucas Smith also had rushing touchdowns.

The Wildcats (6-1 overall, 2-0 PAC-7) had 437 yards total offense.

Trinity quarterback Dominic Payne ran for 197 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Bulldogs fell to 4-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

SOUTHWESTERN RANDOLPH 56, WHEATMORE 25

Adam Cole has been a touchdown machine for Southwestern Randolph and he was again Friday night. Cole found the end zone five times — via three touchdown receptions, a rushing touchdown and a kickoff return. Altogether, he had 275 yards of offense.

Quarterback Easton Clapp threw for 177 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also had 157 yards rushing and a touchdown. Sean Adkins caught a touchdown pass and Jentzen Cox ran for a touchdown.

Colton Law had an interception.

The Cougars are now 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Wheatmore dropped to 1-6 and 0-2.

CENTRAL DAVIDSON 56, ASHEBORO

The Blue Comets had another difficult night against one of the Mid-Piedmont Conference’s top-tier teams. Central’s Keyshawn Breedlove ran for 271 yards and four touchdowns on just 13 carries as the Spartans topped 500 yards in rushing.

Asheboro is now 1-6 overall and 0-2 in the MPC.
