Southwestern Randolph’s Brecken Snotherly put her name in the record books last week, while Randleman’s girls continued an impressive streak of their own. Here’s a look at those and other key moments from last week’s basketball games.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
*Eastern Randolph’s Brecken Snotherly scored a career-high 51 points in a history-making night as the Wildcats pounded Trinity 72-39. Prior to the 2022-23 season, there had only been 24 games in North Carolina prep history when a girl scored 50 or more points. Snotherly also surpassed 2,000 points for her high school career, which includes one season at Winston-Salem Christian. Kenly Whitaker contributed 12 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists.
Autumn Gentry led Trinity with 18 points and Kennedy Jackson had 15.
*Laneane Scherer scored eight points in Asheboro’s 55-24 loss to Ledford.
*Kynnedi Routh scored 21 points as Wheatmore beat Providence Grove 57-46. Bri Hill added 15 points for the Warriors.
Allie Frazier led Providence Grove with 25 points.
*Jordin George scored 15 points and Caressa King had 12 in Southwestern Randolph's 60-55 win over Uwharrie Charter.
*Gracyn Hall scored 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as Randleman beat Trinity 55-38. Audra Petty had 10 points and 6 rebounds for the Tigers, who won their fifth consecutive PAC championship. Randleman ended the regular season with a 22-1 record.
*Snotherly scored 29 points and had 9 rebounds in Eastern Randolph’s 62-37 victory over Providence Grove. Whitaker had 16 points and 4 assists.
*Scherer scored 23 points in Asheboro’s 59-50 loss to Montgomery Central. Sion Murrain had 9 points and Ellen Long had 8.
BOYS BASKETBALL
*DaVonte Brooks scored 32 points and went over 1,000 for his career in Eastern Randolph’s 98-70 rout of Trinity. Timothy Brewer scored 24 points for the Wildcats and Connor Carter had 11.
Dominic Payne led Trinity with 31 points and Dylan Hodges had 19.
*Jerquarius Stanback scored 16 points as Asheboro downed Ledford 49-36. Hakeeme Butler added 9 points while D.J. Headen and Tanner Marsh each had 8.
*Sakai McCoy scored 17 points in Providence Grove’s 81-52 win over Wheatmore. Zander Cheek and Brady Collins each scored 10 points for the Patriots.
Cooper Black led Wheatmore with 27 points.
*Sean Adkins led four players in double figures with 17 points as Southwestern Randolph throttled Uwharrie Charter 72-46. Landon Williamson scored 15 points while Marcus Robertson had 12 and Nathan Ellis 11.
*Payne scored 20 points in Trinity’s 61-55 win over Randleman. Dylan Hodges added 15 points and Jacob Hodges had 9.
Greg Price led Randleman with 19 points while Tyshaun Goldston had 11.
*Eastern Randolph won the PAC championship with its 88-84 win over Providence Grove. Brooks led the way with 30 points and 9 rebounds for the Wildcats. Four other players placed in double figures. Brower had 15 points while Pierce Leonard contributed 13. Nicah Taylor and Carter each scored 11 points.
Jacob Grantham led five Providence Grove players with 17 points. Chase Whitaker had 14 points while McCoy had 13. Zane Cheek and Zander Cheek each scored 11 points.
*Camden Walker led four players in double figures with 16 points as Asheboro concluded a perfect Mid-Piedmont Conference season by routing Montgomery Central 70-42. Stanback scored 13 points while Marsh had 11 and Butler 10.
