Randleman won a mid-season showdown with Eastern Randolph in boys basketball while SWR stayed unbeaten in girls basketball, moving to 20-0. Here’s a look at those and other highlights from last week.
Boys Basketball
Trivett Kennedy scored 13 points and Levi Dalke had 9 in Southwestern Randolph’s 76-44 loss to Mount Pleasant.
- Weston Driggers had a double-double of 16 points and 15 rebounds in Wheatmore’s 61-41 win over Trinity. Parker Kines also had 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
Nazir Staton led Trinity with 14 points while Zy Holmes had 9 and Jackson Lee 8.
- Brayden Chapman scored 17 points and Kennedy added 14 in SW Randolph’s 68-40 victory over Providence Grove. Kenan Sugg had 12 points.
- Chase Farlow scored 25 points and Tyshaun Goldston had 21 as Randleman beat Eastern Randolph 80-72. Connor Cassidy scored 12 points while Jireh Price had 11 and Pacey Wagner 10.
Timothy Brower scored a game-high 34 points for Eastern Randolph. Julian Brooks scored 17 points and Camden Jones had 9.
- Elijah Woodle scored 21 points as Asheboro edged Oak Grove 48-46. Osiris Rodriguez had 14 points.
- Chapman scored 22 points in Southwestern Randolph’s 53-46 loss to South Stanly. Julian Mosley added 8 points.
- Jaxon Mabe scored 17 points and had 9 rebounds to lead four players in double figures as Uwharrie Charter downed Wheatmore 69-45. Jaylen Brown had 15 points and Zy Sturdivant had 12 while Aaron Smith produced a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Kines led Wheatmore with 13 points and Finley Bryant had 10.
- Brower scored 20 points as Eastern Randolph overwhelmed Providence Grove 82-32. Tyler McGee and Jones each had 16 points. Brooks scored 14 points and Cade McCallum had 12.
Dabbs led Providence Grove with 10 points.
- Goldston scored 14 points in Randleman’s 52-30 win over Southwestern Randolph. Cassidy had 11 points and Jackson Cook added 8.
Mosley led Southwestern Randolph with 8 points.
- Brower led the way with 28 points in Eastern Randolph’s 87-62 win over Wheatmore. Jones had 22 points and Brooks added 15.
Kines had 18 points and 5 rebounds for Wheatmore. Driggers had 14 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Finley Bryant had 12 points and 4 assists.
- Mabe had 27 points, 14 rebounds, 6 steals and 5 assists in UCA’s 72-30 romp over Trinity. Sturdivant had 12 points. 6 assists and 5 rebounds, while Braeden Lamb had 11 points and CJ McDowell 9 and Smith collected 10 rebounds.
Girls Basketball
Jordin George scored 11 points as SW Randolph beat Mount Pleasant 39-33. Maddie Strider had 10 points and Kenzie Martin added 9.
- Adalynn Scherer scored 14 points and Katie Brown had 8 in Asheboro’s 70-30 loss to Oak Grove.
- George led three players in double figures with 15 points as SW Randolph rolled to a 68-40 win over Providence Grove. Martin had 14 points while Strider had 10 and Macy Allred 9.
Kolbi Lineberry led Providence Grove with 10 points.
- Jackie McDaniel scored 19 points as Randleman overwhelmed Eastern Randolph 68-28. Gracie Beane and Addyson Deas each scored 9 points.
- Strider scored 22 points, George had 12 and Macy Allred had 8 as SW Randolph whipped South Stanly 57-19.
- Laurel Bernhardt scored 24 points as Providence Grove beat Eastern Randolph 63-39. Jada Nixon had 14 points and Alyson Maze added 9.
Cora Sparrow led Eastern Randolph with 15 points while Callie Craven had 13 and Roxanne Davis 8.
- Strider scored 17 points and Southwestern Randolph held off Randleman 48-40. Martin had 11 points while Hodgin and George each had 8.
Bella Byman and Chenleigh Robinson each scored 11 points to lead Randleman. Beane had 9 points and 9 blocks.
- Nevaeh Staples scored 12 points in Uwharrie Charter’s 45-26 win over Trinity.
Boys Wrestling
- Omar Basyouny, Esteban Santos, Oscar Zelaya, Berik Bigelow, Samuel Salinas, Alexander Patino, Adam Curry and Jonah Lester won as Asheboro edged Montgomery Central 41-36.
- Aiden Burkholder, Stephen Cross, Omega Edge, Simeon Harnett, Jayden Henry, Jaden Allred, Baron Justice, Zane Schloemer, Lawson Coltrane, Jeremyiah McCray and Joseph Trahan won in Trinity’s 61-15 win over Eastern Randolph.
David Lambright, Hayden Payne and Cristian Cabeza won for Eastern Randolph.
- Ayven Virasone Chitavong, Paxton Kearns, Andrew White, Caleb Saldana, Brennan Worrell, Rick Riccardella, Brandon Jordan, Caden Thorne, Lorenzo Alston, Aiden Foster, Caden Bond, Ryland Alvarez and Michael Shropshire won as Uwharrie Charter beat Southwestern Randolph 71-6.
Jose Flores won for Southwestern Randolph.
- LLoy Bosan and Braxton Walker were both 3-0 in Randleman’s quad at Lexington. Jaxton Strickland was 2-1.
- Wheatmore was 2-1 in a quad with Page, Grimsley and Bishop McGuinness.
Nolan Hammonds, Spencer Moore, Dominic Hittepole and Noah Browning were 3-0 for the Warriors. Ayden Summers, Logan Hughes, Broodie Bates, Peyton Russo, Dylan Harris and Camden Gillespie were 2-1. Ethan Tew was 1-0.
Girls Wrestling
Johrnalys Marcado, Emma Redding, Andrea Thornton, Addison Dixon, Adalicia Vasquez and Alaina Scherer won as Asheboro rolled past Montgomery Central 36-6.
Boys Indoor Track
Randleman’s Chase Farlow won in the high jump at the JDL High School Invitational and set a new personal best of 6 feet, 9 inches. Farlow won the outdoor 2-A state championship last spring.
- Asheboro was fourth in the Polar Bear No. 3 meet at Southern Alamance. Winning for the Blue Comets were Aaron Tyson (triple jump) and Jorge Cacares Dominguez (shot put).
Girls Indoor Track
Randleman’s Gracie Beane won the high jump at the JDL High School Invitational.
- Asheboro finished third in the Polar Bear No. 3 meet at Southern Alamance. Winning for the Blue Comets were Jalaya Showers (long jump) and Trynitee Brady (shot put).
