Former Wheatmore star Summer Bowman made an impression with Appalachian State recently with late-game heroics in back-to-back games.
On Sept. 24, with 90 seconds left, the freshman rang a shot off the cross bar, but headed her own rebound by the keeper to give ASU a 1-1 tie with James Madison in a game played in Boone, sending the home crowd into an eruption of frenzy.
Five days earlier, she also helped ASU to a tie with a goal with seven minutes left in Conway, SC, against Coastal Carolina.
The goals were her first two of the season, third best on the team, despite playing in just 8 of 11 games so far, with four starts. ASU is 5-3-3 on the season but unbeaten in conference play.
