Southwestern Randolph rolled on in volleyball, Randleman and Asheboro did so in soccer. Here’s a look at those and other hap-penings from the week.
VOLLEYBALL
*Kaitlyn McCoy had 16 kills and 6 aces in Trinity’s 21-25, 25-16, 25-11, 25-16 win over Jordan-Matthews. Sarabeth Johnson contributed 10 kills, 12 digs and 4 aces. Avery Moffitt had 10 kills while Natalie Franko had 8 kills and 3 blocks. Avalynn Johnson had 24 assists and Serena Dilldine had 16.
*Camden Scott had 15 kills and 13 digs in Randleman’s 25-11, 25-19, 25-13 sweep of Wheatmore. Haley Hinshaw had 7 kills, 13 digs and 5 aces. Ava Jones had 7 kills and a block while Mollie Hall had 5 kills. Camryn Vickery had 30 assists, 2 kills and 2 aces. Karli Kennington had 12 digs and an ace.
*Gracie Hodgin had 14 kills while Madelyn Smith had 11 kills and 10 digs as Southwestern Randolph swept Trinity 25-21, 25-20, 25-22. Riley Key had 10 kills and 3 blocks. Coley Shiflet got 29 digs.
Sarabeth Johnson led Trinity with 11 kills and had an ace. Karrington Batten had 10 kills and 2 blocks. McCoy had nine kills. Franko had 5 kills and 2 blocks. Avalynn Johnson had 20 assists and Faith Powell had 17 digs.
*Piper Davidson had 5 kills and 11 digs in Asheboro’s 25-17, 25-13, 25-17 loss to Southwestern Randolph. Ellen Long had 5 kills and 2 blocks. Eva Vuncannon had 14 assists. Lia George had 3 kills and 13 digs.
*Chloe Painter had 7 kills, 6 aces, 2 blocks, 19 assists and 5 digs in Uwharrie Charter’s 25-23, 25-9, 25-23 sweep of Trinity. Lizah Moore had 14 kills, 5 blocks and an assist. Kayden Faglier had 6 kills, 2 blocks and a dig. Kenzie Hill had 2 kills, 4 aces, 12 digs and a block.
McCoy had 9 kills while Sarabeth Johnson had 7 kills and 2 aces for Trinity. Batten had 5 kills and 5 blocks. Avalynn Johnson had 24 assists and 12 digs.
*Hodgin had nine kills and a block as Southwestern Randolph swept past Randleman 25-16, 25-20, 25-14. Smith added 8 kills and 2 aces. Key had seven kills and an ace. Paige Hughes and Jade Matias each had three kills.
Scott led Randleman with 14 kills and 17 digs. Jones added 6 kills while Hinshaw had 4 kills and 15 digs. Vickery had 26 assists and 15 digs. Kennington had 17 digs and Kadie Green had 9.
*Kenly Whitaker had 55 assists as Eastern Randolph rallied from two sets down to beat Wheatmore 23-25, 21-25, 26-24, 25-13, 15-1. Addie Flinchum and Logann Beaver each had 24 kills while Mariana Corea had 7 blocks. Ziera Watson had 20 digs.
SOCCER
*Hayden Hemming scored three goals in Wheatmore’s 5-3 loss to Southwestern Randolph. Laurel Suarez Ortiz had an assist.
*Carlos Gonzalez and Tyler Smith got the goals in Asheboro’s 2-0 win over Oak Grove. Ozmar Martinez and Gerrardo Chi each had an assist.
*Jaydon DeNamur tallied all three goals in Uwharrie Charter’s 3-1 victory over Eastern Randolph. Israel Jaramillo had two assists and Isaac Jaramillo had one.
*Hemming continued his big week with four more goals as Wheatmore upset Uwharrie Charter 5-3. That gave the sophomore midfielder 13 goals for the season. Ortiz scored the other goal. Kooper Grant, Hemming and Ortiz had assists. Preston Jones made six saves.
DeNamur scored all three goals for Uwharrie Charter, giving him six for the week. Angel Galarza and Israel Jaramillo each had an assist.
*Alan Alcantara scored two goals in Asheboro’s 5-0 win over Central Davidson. Arath Gomez, Diego Bustamante and Smith netted the other goals. Bustamante had three assists while Alexander Perez and Martinez had one each.
*Ivan Collazo scored the goal in Randleman’s 1-0 win over Trinity. Owen Leonard had the assist.
TENNIS
*Blair Thomas, Malaika Khan and Charlotte Smith won singles matches in Asheboro’s 5-4 win over Central Davidson. The doubles teams of Yusra Khan/Thomas and Malaika Khan/Gayeon Kim also won.
*Audrey Frazier, Maya Barber, Noelle Swaim, Abby Greeson, Caroline Tidwell and Olivia Lawson swept the singles matches in Providence Grove’s 8-1 win over Trinity. Winning in doubles were the teams of Frazier/Barber and Alisa Shaw/Ella Money.
*Sammie Parks, Lindsi Brown, Larson Kelly and Bethany Latham won in singles as Southwestern Randolph beat Wheatmore 7-2. The teams of Allie Popp/Parks, Brown/Kelly and Caroline Farlow/Latham swept the doubles.
FOOTBALL
*John Kirkpatrick threw for 246 yards and 4 touchdowns in undefeated Randleman’s 36-7 win over Wheatmore. Amari Ferdna caught two of the touchdown passes and had 91 yards receiving. Tyshaun Goldston caught two touchdown passes in the second half. Edison Hernandez ran 10 times for 130 yards and a touchdown.
*Nicah Taylor returned two interceptions for touchdowns as Eastern Randolph swamped Southwestern Randolph 41-0. Carter Revelle threw for 118 yards and a touchdown to Rayden West, who had 4 catches for 76 yards. Lucas Smith ran for 71 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.
Jentezen Cox had 68 yards on 10 carries for Southwestern Randolph.
*Logan Fox ran for a pair of touchdowns and Tucker Batten kicked two field goals in Providence Grove’s 20-9 win over Trinity.
Dominic Payne had a rushing touchdown for Trinity. Javeion Holmes led the defense with a safety.
*Asheboro lost to Oak Grove 57-14 in the conference opener for both teams. The Blue Comets scored on a first quarter fumble return for a touchdown and a 69-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.
