Tiger boys, SWR girls move to 8-0

Randleman’s boys and Southwestern Randolph’s girls stayed unbeaten heading into the SportsTone.net Christmas Invitational. Here’s a look at how they got there and other results from last week.

 

Boys Basketball 

- Tyshaun Goldston scored 22 points as Randleman edged Eastern Randolph 47-45. Jireh Price added nine points. 

Timothy Brower led Eastern Randolph with 21 points. 

- Parker Kines scored 20 points as Wheatmore beat Trinity 52-42. Finley Bryant had 14 points while Truman Auman had 10. Nazir Staton led Trinity with 18 points and Zy Holmes had 16. 

- Jalial Timmons scored 27 points in Asheboro’s 61-46 win over Uwharrie Charter. Osiris Rodriguez had 11 points while Elijah Woodle had 9 and Jewel Barrett-Riggins 8. Jeremiah Spinks led UCA with 12 points. Aaron Smith had 10 points and Jayden DeNamur had 9. 

-Andrew Thomas scored 20 points and had 7 assists as Providence Grove beat East Davidson 74-62. Will Dabbs scored 15 points while Brady Collins had 9 points and 9 rebounds.

- Brayden Chapman scored 17 points in Southwestern Randolph’s 68-40 win over Jordan-Matthews. Julian Mosley scored 11 points, Trivett Kennedy had 10 and Zach Bruce 8. 

- Dabbs scored 25 points and Thomas had 17 in Providence Grove’s 74-57 loss to North Stanly. n Timothy Brower poured in 38 points as Eastern Randolph raced past Wheatmore 85-40. Julian Brooks added 15 points and Tyler Gee had 9. Weston Driggers led Wheatmore with 13 points and Kines had 10. 

- Jackson Mabe scored 18 points in  Uwharrie Charter’s 82-43 win over Trinity. Braeden Lamb scored 12 points and Aaron Smith had 10. Zy Holmes led Trinity with 10 points. 

- Chapman scored 12 points and Mosley had 10 in Southwestern Randolph’s 61-39 loss to Randleman. After the Tigers took a quick 3-2 lead, Goldston exploded for 18 points, including four 3-pointers.

 

Girls Basketball 

- Jordin George and Maddie Strider each scored 15 points to lead five players in double figures in Southwestern Randolph’s 68-42 win over Providence Grove. Macie Allred scored 11 points while Kenzie Martin and Gracie Hodgin each had 10. 

- Brianna Hill scored 16 points as Wheatmore beat Trinity 51-24. Kynnedi Routh and Kaelyn Whitehart had 11 points. 

- Naimah Al-Arif scored 12 points and Navaeh Staples had 11 in Uwharrie Charter’s 53-28 romp over Chatham Charter. 

- Katie Green scored 10 points while Chenleigh Robinson and Jacquline McDaniel each had 9 in Randleman’s 37-31 win over Oak Grove. 

- Lainey Thomas scored 14 points and Kayla Brown had 9 in Uwharrie Charter’s 52-18 victory over Asheboro. Al-Arif had 9 points and Sammy Chriscoe had 8. 

- Jada Nixon scored 25 points and Laurel Bernhardt had 10 in Providence Grove’s win over East Davidson. 

- Strider scored 23 points in SW Randolph’s 64-18 rout of Jordan-Matthews. Allred had 15 points and Martin added 12. 

- Bernhardt scored 19 points in Providence Grove’s 38-33 win over North Stanly. Nixon added 11 points. 

- Whiteheart and Hill each scored 17 points in Wheatmore’s 53-32 win over ER. Callie Craven led Eastern Randolph with 13 points and Cora Sparrow had 9. 

- George scored 18 points and Strider had 13 as Southwestern Randolph beat Randleman 42-25. 

- Staples led a balanced offense with 14 points in Uwharrie Charter’s 56-26 victory over Trinity. Thomas and Chriscoe each had 1 1 points while Al-Arif had 8. 

 

Indoor Track & Field 

- Asheboro swept to victory in the Asheboro Comet Classic over Trinity, Randleman, Eastern Randolph, Central Davidson and Jordan-Matthews. 

Winning for the Asheboro boys were Alejandro Delgado Agosto (55 meters), Franklin McCormick (400 meters), Aaron Tyson (triple jump, high jump, pole vault) and Boone Hinesley (shot put). Winning for the Asheboro girls were Nyla Price (55-meter hurdles), Jalaya Showers (55 meters, long jump), Cadence Waters (400 meters), Sarah Reeder (triple jump) and Kamora Fuller Taylor (high jump). 

Winning for the Randleman boys was Triston Chriscoe (55-meter hurdles).

Winning for the Trinity boys were the 4x800 relay team, the 4x200 relay team and Giovanni Jaimes (500 meters, 300 meters).

Winning for the Eastern Randolph girls was Mirianna Corea (shot put). 

- Randleman’s Chase Farlow won the high jump at the Stay in Your Lane Invitational at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem.

 

Girls' Wrestling 

- Bliss Joyce (4-0) won at 132 pounds for Trinity in the Mallard Creek Invitational. Layla Vasquez went 2-2 at 126 pounds. n Asheboro’s Andrea Thornton (126) and Adalicia Vasquez (138) were both 1-2 in the Mallard Creek Invitational.

 

Boys' Wrestling 

- Providence Grove went 5-1 at its Grapple at the Grove. Jeremiah Duffy, Mitchell Freeman and Nick Straughn were all 6-0 for the Patriots. Matthew Signor was 3-0. Jeremiah Payne, Aiden Poplin and Malachi Combs were all 5-1. Johnathon Martinez and Caden Mercado were 2-1. 

- Dominic Hittepole (winner, 190), Spencer Moore (2nd, 150) and John Kelly (5th, 215) placed for Wheatmore at the Piedmont Invitational. 

- Esteban Santos, Omar Basyouny, Turcan Kalil, Oscar Zelaya, Berik Bigelow, Hunter Arroyo, Adam Curry, Quanta McRae, William Tucker II, Gabriel Hargis and Quentez Butler were victorious as Asheboro ripped High Point Central 65-11. 

- Southwestern Randolph and Eastern Randolph went 1-1 in a tri-match with Montgomery Central.  Michael Jaimes, Nathan Garner, Jose Flores and Justin Foland went 2-0 for Southwestern Randolph. David Lambright, Trever Crabtree and Jamie Crabtree were 2-0 for Eastern Randolph.

- Trinity swept a tri-match with Providence Grove and Oak Grove. 

Edgar Lopez, Omara Edge, Simeon Hamett, Jayden Henry, Jaden Allred, Lawson Coltrane, Joseph Trahan, Aiden Burkholder and Stephen Cross were all 2-0 for Trinity. Corbin Heugly was 1-0. 

Jeremiah Payne, Malachi Combs, Duffy, Tyler Williams, Poplin, Brandon Naquin, Freeman, Ayden Terwilliger, Nick Straughn and Ryan Bullard went 1-1 for Providence Grove. 

- Uwharrie Charter swept a tri-match with Randleman and Ben L. Smith. Randleman was 1-1. 

Ayven Virasone Chitavong, Paxton Kearns, Andrew White, Caleb Saldana, Michael Hardie, Rick Riccardella, Travis Nobles, Caden Thorne, Preston Tilley, Aiden Foster, Ryan Alvarez, Caden Bond, Michael Shropshire and Jesse Bowles all went 2-0 for UCA. 

Jack Gilmartin, Alex Raymundo, Lloy Bosan and Hezekyah Matson were 1-1 for  Randleman.
