Local teams spent the week seeking momentum for their baseball conference tournament. Let’s check some highlights:
*Josh Ward had a double and two RBIs in Providence Grove’s 6-3 win over Wheatmore. Lemuel Coltrane, Logan Fox and Tyler Foust singled in a run each. Andrew Thomas scattered six hits in six innings with eight strikeouts. JC Cruz pitched the seventh inning to get the save.
Jake Parks and Clay Hill each had two hits for Wheatmore.
*Ben Medinger and Grat Dalton each had three hits in Uwharrie Charter's 10-2 win over Southwestern Randolph. Walker Wilkins had two hits and two RBIs. Carter Brown had a triple and RBI. Jake Hunter allowed one earned run with five strikeouts in six innings.
Adam Cole, Easton Clapp and Grant Kirk all had two hits for Southwestern Randolph.
*Ben Luck was 3-for-3 with a home run, triple and 4 RBIs in Asheboro’s 10-0 romp over Montgomery Central. Davis Gore homered and drove in two runs. Amare Godwin had a hit and two RBIs.
*Payton Mooney doubled and drove in three runs as Wheatmore edged Providence Grove 6-5. Ayden Byrd had a hit and RBI. Parker Kines gave up three earned runs and struck out three in five innings.
Jose Alonso had a triple and RBI for Providence Grove.
*Brown was 2-for-3 with two triples and 5 RBIs as Uwharrie Charter outlasted Southwestern Randolph 13-9. Caleb Stickle had two hits and an RBI. Wilkins had a hit and RBI. He was also the winning pitcher.
Grant Little, Cole, Kirk and Clapp all had two hits for Southwestern Randolph. Tyler Parks had a hit and two RBIs.
*Walker Parrish had a hit and two RBIs in Trinity’s 9-7 win over Eastern Randolph. Landon Mowery, Jake Little, Ethan Willard and Andon Simmons all had two hits. Cade Hill scattered 11 hits in 6 2/3 innings. Simmons got the final out for the save.
Nick Brady had two hits and two RBIs for Eastern Randolph. Lucas Smith and Ethan Frye also had two hits. Kahlin Graham singled in a run.
*Seth Way was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs in Randleman’s 6-1 win over Northern Guilford. Way also hurled a three-hitter for six innings with seven strikeouts. Sean Miller went 2-for-2 with an RBI and Austin Lemons doubled in a run. Chesney Welch pitched a scoreless seventh inning for the Tigers.
*Gore and Chandler Macon combined on a no-hitter in Asheboro’s 10-1 win over Montgomery Central. Gore went five innings and struck out eight. Macon finished up, striking out two in two innings. Josh Meadows got two hits, including a double, and three RBIs. Tanner Marsh homered and had two RBIs. Caviness and Macon each had a double while Luck got a triple.
*Brady Armfield and Parks each had two hits in Southwestern Randolph’s 8-4 loss to Jordan-Matthews. Eli Gravely had a hit and two RBIs.
*Thomas doubled in a run as Providence Grove fell 7-1 to Morehead.
