Weekly roundup: Asheboro wins third in a row

BASKETBALL

 

*Camden Walker scored 24 points in Asheboro’s 72-54 win over Randleman. It was the Blue Comets’ third straight victory. Jerquarius Stanback and Darius Headed each scored 16 points while Hakemme Butler had 10.

 

Tyshaun Goldston led Randleman with 15 points. Greg Price and Chase Farlow each had 12 points. Christian Long added 10 points.

 

*Gracyn Hall scored 21 points and grabbed 9 rebounds as the Randleman girls romped past Asheboro, 71-36. Elizabeth York scored 18 points while Jordan Booker had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. 

 

Sion Murrain led Asheboro with 16 points.

 

*Murrain scored 14 points while Salem Lee had 12 and Ellen Long 11 in the Asheboro girls’ 51-47 win over Providence Grove. 

 

Allie Frazier led Providence Grove with 16 points and Jada Nixon had 10.

 

*Kynnedi Routh scored 12 points in the Wheatmore girls’ 46-34 loss to Central Davidson.

 

*Dominic Payne had a huge night with 37 points as Trinity outlasted Oak Grove 67-66 in overtime. Grayson Earls had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

 

*Riley Strickland scored 17 points while Tristan Hammonds and Tyler Kimball each had 15 in Wheatmore’s 82-44 rout of East Davidson. Garrett Lamphar added 14 points for the Warriors.

 

*Summer Bowman scored 13 points and Brianna Hill had 12 as the Wheatmore girls beat East Davidson 43-33.

 

WRESTLING

 

*Trinity’s Levi Dennis (126), Gavin Hardister (182) and Joey Smith (220) won their weight classes in the West Rowan Invitational. Edgar Vasquez (106), Brayden Hall (113), Spencer May (120) and Charles Scharfer (145) were all second. Gavin McCall and Johnny Bryant (170) were third. The Bulldogs finished second out of 10 teams. 

 

*Ethan Hines, Christopher White, Jack McArthur, Aldo Hernandez, Lorenzo Alston, Jair Ulloa, Carson Robinson, Grayson Roberts, Jaden Maness, Corbin Grissom, Caden Bond and Davonter Harrison all won as Uwharrie Charter dominated Asheboro 64-9.

 

*Randleman’s Kaelob Pearce and Braxton Walker both went 2-0 in a tri-match with Union Pines and Montgomery Central.

 

*McArthur, Hernandez, Alston, Robinson, Roberts and Hines went 3-0 in Uwharrie Charter’s sweep of a quad with Southeast Guilford, Cary and East Rowan. Ulloa and Grissom were 2-0.

 

*Janaksel Perez, Jalin Fox, Luke White, Mason Leonard and Erick Lopez were all 3-0 for Southwestern Randolph in a quad with Chatham Charter, Northwood and Williams. 

 

*Wheatmore’s Randy Spencer (220) was fourth in the Enka Invitational. Dominic Hittepole (160) was fifth. Nolan Hammonds (126), Trey Swaney (132) and Noah Browning (182) were sixth.
