With swimming and indoor track having wrapped up their seasons and wrestling state championship matches pushed to Monday (and thus too late for this edition of Randolph Hub) because of last week’s late-week snowfall, today’s wrapup is all basketball.
Here’s a look at the Piedmont Athletic Conference results and Asheboro’s boys one-and-done in the Mid-Piedmont Conference. (The AHS girls, along with the North Davidson girls, did not qualify for the MPC event.)
Boys Basketball
- Camden Jones scored 28 points as No. 2 Eastern Randolph beat No. 3 Uwharrie Charter 85-67 in the semifinals of the PAC tournament. Julian Brooks had 23 points and Timothy Brower added 15.
Aaron Smith led Uwharrie Charter with 21 points while Jaylan Brown and Braeden Lamb each had 14.
- Chase Farlow scored 22 points as No. 1 Randleman downed No. 4 Providence Grove 71-50 in the semifinals of the PAC tournament. Connor Cassidy added 12 points and Tyshaun Goldston had 10.
Andrew Thomas scored a game-high 24 points for Providence Grove. Will Dabbs had 12 points and Stephen Beeson contributed 10.
- Osiris Rodriguez scored 11 points in No. 4 Asheboro’s 44-33 loss to No. 1 Ledford in the semifinals of the MPC tournament.
- Dabbs scored 23 points as Providence Grove outlasted No. 5 Wheatmore 65-59 in the first round of the PAC tournament. Ryder Jones and Thomas each had 10 points.
Parker Kines had 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for Wheatmore. Wyatt Stepp had 15 points and 5 assists. Weston Driggers had 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
- Jaydon DeNamur scored 16 points as Uwharrie Charter beat No. 6 Southwestern Randolph 61-51 in the first round of the PAC tournament. Lamb, Smith and Brown all scored 10 points.
Kenan Sugg led Southwestern Randolph with 16 points and Julian Mosley had 11.
- Brooks poured in 31 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as Eastern Randolph swamped No. 7 Trinity 92-56 in the first round of the PAC tournament. Jones and Brower each had 14 points. Will Stalker had 10 points, 6 rebounds, 6 steals and 4 assists.
Zy Holmes led Trinity with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Nazir Staton scored 12 points while Walker Parrish and Tyquan York each had 10.
- Goldston scored 24 points as Randleman downed Eastern Randolph 68-56 to win the PAC tournament championship. Farlow added 16 points while Pacey Wagner and Cassidy each had 10.
Brower led Eastern Randolph with 18 points. Gee scored 15 points and Brooks had 12.
Girls Basketball
- Jordin George scored 17 points while Kenzie Martin had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds as undefeated Southwestern Randolph beat Randleman 54-38 in the semifinals of the PAC tournament. Gracie Hodgin had 10 points and 7 rebounds.
Jaqueline McDaniel led Randleman with 13 points and Chenleigh Robinson had 10.
- Naveah Staples scored 15 points to lead four players in double figures as No. 3 Uwharrie Charter downed No. 2 Providence Grove 56-49 in the semifinals of the PAC tournament. Lainey Thomas had 14 points while Naimah Al-Arif added 12 and Kayla Brown got 10.
- Abbie Gudino scored 11 points as Uwharrie Charter beat No. 6 Eastern Randolph 49-16 in the first round of the PAC tournament. Al-Arif and Thomas each had nine points. Austin Davis picked up his 100th win as the Eagles’ coach. The win also marked the first 20-win season for the Eagles.
- McDaniel had 14 points in Randleman’s 38-32 win over No. 5 Wheatmore in the first round of the PAC tournament.
Brianna Hill led Wheatmore with 9 points.
- Staples scored 19 points as Uwharrie Charter surprised previously undefeated Southwestern Randolph 49-43 to win the program’s first conference tournament championship. Al-Arif scored 10 points and Thomas had 8.
George led Southwestern Randolph with 15 points while Strider had 10 and Hodgin 8.
