A look inside: Renovations at Asheboro High School

Asheboro High School celebrated the completion of renovations to the high school with a ribbon cutting last week and then an open house on Sunday for the public to check out updates and what’s changed.

Current renovations preserved key historical elements of the building that was originally constructed in 1949 and opened for students beginning with the 1950-51 school year. Renovations then enhanced those preservations with upgraded finishes, technology, heat-ing and cooling, safety, accessibility and furniture.

The building also features a 37,670-square-foot addition with 14 new classrooms finished and dedicated in September 2020.

The $55 million addition and renovation came about with support from the Randolph County Commissioners, which allowed for the creation of a state-of-the-art learning facility with new and fully renovated classroom spaces, a multi-purpose commons area, expanded space for cultural arts programs and increased capacity needs
