Interested citizens got a good luck at the Zoo City Sportsplex being built by the City of Asheboro on some 100 acres on the corner of Zoo Parkway and Old Cox Road, about halfway between Dixe Drive (US 64) and the NC Zoo.
That project is about a couple of months from completion, according to city officials. But the fields, playground, concessions and bathroom buildings are in place, with work on sand volleyball courts, pickleball courts, a dog park and walking trails to come.
On Thursday, May 25, the complex’s new logo was unveiled and a youth football game and a youth soccer game were played to give onlookers a sense of what games being played there will look like.
